• ZCC nominating Committee for the FTSC election

From Ward Dossche@2:292/854 to All on Tue Feb 15 23:02:42 2022
    All,

I'm proposing that the Nominating Committee will be composed by myself and Niels Joncheere. Niels is my NC 292, teaches computer science at university level and is the current developer / maintainer of ERRFLAGS.

Nick cannot be a member as he is already active in the FTSC.

The following people have been approached to become a candidate in the election of standing member, they have all indicated they will accept the nomination:

    Rob Swindell (SBBS)
    Tim Schattkowsky (WinPoint)
    James Coyle (Mystic)

All three are very knowledgeable in technical Fido-matters, they are willing and motivated.

Tim does not have a nodenumber as he operates from a point, but I included him in my zone-independant section as 2:2/29 so he complies with the node-requirement. I will try to re-address possible netmail by OT to his point-address. Complicated but necessaqry because the nodelist police will go after this and we will avoid a lot of messages from semi smart guys.

I hope this can be met by approval. When there are no serious objections, the nomination will be released Wednesdqy 16th around noon my time.

2 More people from Russia and Ukraine were approached but have not responded.

    Take care,

    \%/@rd Dossche

Good choices. We are suddenly Z1 heavy and I think a balance of Z2 in there is merited.

Opinion really. We operate better with an even base.

The zone of an FTSC-member is totally irrelevant, technical knowledge is, this is what the ZCC is attempting to achieve.

    Take care,

Is there a difference in tech-skills between a Z1 FTN author and a Z2 one?

No, nor did I say so. It's just good to see a balance if it happens to work out that way.
