    I blame you (archlinux) for that. Have you ever ran an official gnu release of gcc ever? gcc-16.1.0 is the latest.

    I may have when it first came out? As soon as a patch hits another minor release gets pushed, though. I don't fight it. I'll use the latest stuff they have in the package manager. If something doesn't work, I'll go back to whatever version worked last (which hasn't happened in quite some time now).

    Maybe this is why some of my versions don't match yours. Mayhaps at times the arch devs need to tweak something to make it work with everything else, until upstream fixes it themselves.

    No sir, not yet anyway.. Still close enough, though!

    $ gcc --version
    gcc (GCC) 16.1.1 20260430

    I'm also still on Linux version 7.0.7-arch2-1, which you probably never saw anything like that. It's possible that's actually 7.0.8 or even 7.0.9 seeing as though "2-1" I'm led to believe means it's a second and/or patched version of the original (7.0.7-arch1-1 I believe was the first that was installed here). But I'm just guessing at this point.

    Hej Nick!

    I may have when it first came out?

    From what I noticed here, your gcc was 6.1.1 showing the same date as the official 6.1.0 release, which is what I was using to compile the latest linux-7 branch. Due to a combination of senility and boredom it prompted me to throw caution to the wind as far as gcc-16.1.1/linux-7 is concerned.

    But I'm just guessing at this point.

    Sounds like standard operating procedure to me.
