• SSH Error session key

From Rixter@1:103/705 to All on Tue Aug 12 14:02:41 2025
I moved my BBS over to a new PC and am now getting a message that SSH ERROR Could not import the session key used to protect the private key -22 getting private key from bbs_thread
How do I correct this? I am seeing something similar on the Web service that read, Error could not import the session key used to protect the private key -22 getting private key. I also noticed a bunch of my dovenet mail disappeared and my call count went back to zero. Where is the call count data stored? I hope you are doing well and can help with this.

Did you change your system password?

Please clarify what you mean by "call count".

Thank you Digital Man, I will find and rename/delete those keys and report back what happens. The Call Count is how many calls in total I have had on my BBS since I started it. It was 3032 (since 1995) and now it is back to 1. Where is this data store and what is the file named? I downloaded the dove net qwk packets again and that seems fine now. Dove-Net was the only message base that lost messages. I see the messages in the folders but not in the BBS message directory so I just reset my message pointers in the qwk and downloaded them all over again and it worked out ok. I did not change my password but I will make sure it is correct. Thank you very much. I love having moved my BBS from a 16 year old laptop to a much faster PC. I suppose there is always a hiccup during a big move. Soon I will upgrade to 3.20! I am getting my notes ready. Have a good night Digital Man and thank you for the fast reply. I will report back as to how the repair work on these 3 issues goes.

It sounds like when you moved files to your new system, you messed something up. See https://wiki.synchro.net/faq:misc#migration for more info.

No problem. You appear to be still runing SBBS v3.19 though, and the file was named dsts.dab back then and required the use of the dstsedit tool to edit it. Probably better to just copy the dsts.dab file from your back up.

I did use a backup version of dsts.dab and it works fine now. The SSH problem is resolved as well thank you. I only have my personal mail folder on SBBS showing message headers but no messages right now. This is the email sent to me and that I have sent to others. It shows the message header but no message body. I am still trying to figure that one out. Thank you very much for the good direction towards my BBS correction. Have a great night Digital Man. Rixter
