does synchronet provide the fossil or uart or is this something i need to add to the bbs? run it through a batch file?

You don't need to run anything through a batch file.

Synchronet for Windows comes with its own virtual UART / FOSSIL driver. https://wiki.synchro.net/monitor:sbbsexec

A UART is the physical serial/comm port/device. A "virtual UART driver" creates a software virtual UART for DOS software to see/talk to as if it's a talking to a physical UART.

There's more than one "web interface" for Synchronet. I assume you're referring to ecWeb. Maybe try using the traditional BBS interface for messaging instead?

I'm replying to your message using ecWeb. It automatically put the > symbols at the beginning of each line of your message when I quoted it with the "Quote" button. Seems to work fine.

of your message when I quoted it wit
the "Quote" button. Seems to work fi

This is just a theory as I have not
seen or used that web interface, but
what if you accidentally move your
cursor to the quoted area, pressed
enter to go to a new line, and started
typing there? I think I have seen
message editors get confused like that
and just keep adding >'s to newly typed
    lines.

It seem to work intuitively to me (and I didn't write it). <shrug>

why are you making a theory when you haven't seen it.

to go to a new line, and started typing there? I think I have seen message editors get confused like that and just keep adding >'s to newly typed lines.

    what message editors did that?
