ICE agents are now literally hunting people in California's agricultural areas.
Their Secretary has mandated them to detain 3,000 people per day.
Ostensibly, this is about apprehending "criminals", but they can't meet these numbers if they actually have to investigate people. So, simply working diligently is now considered criminal.
By targeting agriculture in California, Trump is impacting the largest state economy in the US. California is a Democratic state. He aims to cause damage there, hoping that a state with a weaker economy will also shift to a Republican state. After all, most Republican states are those with much worse economies and more poverty.
Legality of Marine Deployment
Meanwhile, a discussion has arisen about whether the deployment of Marines in California is legally permissible.
There's a law stating this isn't allowed, but as usual, Trump is ignoring it. He knows he won't be impeached, thanks to the Republican cowards in Congress and the Senate.
Impact on Agriculture and Food Supply
Returning to ICE's actions... If agriculture now loses its workers, it will have consequences for the harvest and thus for the food situation in the US.
