• openxp compression

From ALAN@1:135/392 to ALL on Wed Aug 24 12:18:16 2022
    Hi,

In the install of openxp, I have found trouble with the compression stuff.

What do I put in there?

When put nothing it does not poll.

I think my bossnode is sending binary.

I managed to get syncterm going in wine.

My attempts to build the linux version fail with just

    done

as a result with no openxp in usr/bin, I believe.

    Can someone help me?

    Alan

P.S. I am going full linux and have landed on Mint as being the most stable from my testing.

What do you mean with "stable"? Isn't every linux distribution stable compared to windows? ;-)

    Bye, Wilfred.

The phrase was meant to be "talk about it".

    Sorry.

I am running in circles trying to install openxp on linux.

Got sycronet working on linux using wine.

I am using direct entry to a BBS to handle the uplink

Tried D'Bridge with DOSBOX-X and it does seem to send mail out, but no
    inbound.

    Ok, and yes.

But FMail is only a tosser/scanner for jam, hudson and msg message bases. I don't know if that is useful in your openxp setup?

The installation script installs OpenXP in /usr/local/lib/openxp/ and then creates two symlinks('openxp' and 'xp') in /usr/local/bin/ which both
point to the 'openxp' executable in /usr/local/lib/openxp/bin/

Here is what I am seeing.

    abeck@abeck-linux:/usr/local/lib/openxp/bin$ xp
xp: error while loading shared libraries: libpanelw.so.5: cannot open shared

You may need the ncurses as well as ncurses wide packages installed.

Look for a package like libncurses5 and libncursesw5 and be sure both are installed.
