Seems to be from Words of Radiance, Brandon Sanderson. Never read his stuff. But the dialog about poop sounds a bit like something I would expect from a Discworld (Terry Pratchett) novel instead.

Here is a bit more context in the poop conversation.

?Poop,? Shallan said. ?You?re out there on the battlefield, encased in metal like a crab in its shell. What do you do if nature calls??
?I . . . er . . .? Adolin frowned at her. ?That is not something any woman has ever asked me before.?
?Yay for originality!? Shallan said, though she blushed as she said it. [...]

?Well,? Adolin said slowly, ?every battle has breaks in the flow, and men rotate in and out of the front lines. For every five minutes you?re fighting, you often have almost as many resting. When a Shardbearer pulls back, men inspect his armor for cracks, give him something to drink or eat, and help him with lighteyed womanf, lettre . . . what you just mentioned. It?s not something that makes a good topic of conversation, Brightness. We don?t really talk about it.?
?That?s precisely what makes it a good topic of conversation,? she said. ?I can find out about wars and Shardbearers and glorious killing in the official accounts. The grimy details, though?nobody writes those down.?
?Well, it does get grimy,? Adolin said with a grimace, taking a drink. ?You can?t
really . . . I can?t believe I?m saying this . . . you can?t really wipe yourself in Shardplate, so someone has to do it for you. Makes me feel like an infant. Then, sometimes, you just don?t have time . . .?

I'm really not a big fan of series with superheroes because mostly I find it so incredibly difficult to suspend my disbelief and/or they're almost always poorly written... so I'd be happy to find one that breaks the mold.

From this description, that's not the one. just seeing the "sentence" in there: "And to rule man you must crush his wills." That's enough to put me off.

I read the first book and tbh not a great fan of this series. It's interesting- definitely interesting 'spins in the tale', but the fact I never finished the series probably speaks for itself. I certainly don't rate it up in the same level as stormlight and mistborn.

You were fully clear. I saw the problem on the Fido side, eventually. :( I'll see if I can post a better version. Ususally it's just the opening and closing brackets that the Fido side doesn't support. That's a simple replace-all(x).

I meant that *I* could simply do replace(x), where x = (annoying slanted-open bracket) and (annoying slanted closing bracket) with the simple " char, before I post. But that would be easier to do on my PC rather than the smartphone.

Perhaps there is a feature on the android to disable "smart"
quotes? I know there is something akin to that for the iPhone.
But maybe the setting doesn't apply to cut-n-paste from

Absolutley.. but he's done and still doing so much already. However, considering that he probably scans the messages to process the re-quoting properly, perhaps including to replace the two types of angled quotes and the angled single quote might not be too bothersome to incorporate.

The Book Business: What Everyone Needs to Know
..introduces those outside the industry to the world of book publishing. Covering everything from the beginnings of modern book publishing early in the 20th century to the current concerns over the alleged death of print, digital reading, and the rise of Amazon, Mike Shatzkin and Robert Paris Riger provide a succinct and insightful survey of the industry in an easy-to-read question-and-answer format. The authors, veterans of "trade publishing," or the branch of the business that puts books in our hands through libraries or bookstores, answer questions from the basic to the cutting-edge, providing a guide for curious beginners and outsiders. How does book publishing actually work? What challenges is it facing today? How have social media changed the game of book marketing? What does the life cycle of a book look like in 2019? They focus on how practices are changing at a time of great flux in the industry, as digital creation and delivery are altering the commercial realities of the book business.
