• Required changes to add a new address for a new network

From JAS@4:900/733 to All on Mon Sep 15 16:09:44 2025

    Hello everybody!

What settings should be changed to add another FTN to GoldedPlus?

    So far I found:
    . AKA
    . NODELIST
    . AKAMATCHNET ?

So far I'm unable to send a netmail message to another network. It shows always my fidonet address. After entering the from and destination adresses when the internal editor opens the from address is changed back to fido.

Not so much changed, but you'll need to add to your config.

    So far I found:
    . AKA

    . AKAMATCHNET ?

So far I'm unable to send a netmail message to another network. It shows always my fidonet address. After entering the from and destination
adresses when the internal editor opens the from address is changed back
    to fido.

The "ADDRESS" keyword can be used multiple times to specify all of your node numbers:

    ADDRESS 4:900/733
    ADDRESS <othernet address>

    AKAMATCHNET

.. and your NETMAIL area definitition shouldn't have any node numbers:

areadef NETMAIL "Fidonet Netmail" B net Jam /path/to/netmail

When you receive a netmail from a non-fidonet node number, and you reply to it with AKAMATCHNET set, it should reply to it with the closest address you have listed in the ADDRESS fields.

If you send a new netmail, you will probably have to manually specify the node number you want to use, but I'm fairly certain that node number needs to be defined with the ADDRESS keyword in order to be able to use it.

    Hope that helps.

    Regards,
    Nick

Once you have your addresses specified you can also press CTRL A to choose the address you'd like to use. You can also press CTRL U to switch between different names (alias vs real name for example).

That's weird, it works on mine:

    https://ibb.co/MxSckwYv

In my golded.cfg I'm pointing to my two hpt area files:

    AREAFILE Fidoconfig /home/ubuntu/fido/etc/config
    AREAFILE Fidoconfig /home/ubuntu/fido/etc/areas

and my netmail area looks like this in my hpt config:

    netmailarea NETMAIL /home/ubuntu/fido/msgbase/netmail -b jam

CTRL A and CTRL U only seem to work while I'm reading messages, not when I'm composing.

Sorry I was mistaken, before composing a netmail you can do CTRL-A and then when you create it, it uses the option previously selected.
