Bummer. Exactly how is another brain dead MSG kludge going to solve it?

Its another correlation put that two systems (in two different nets) are the same system.

Are you certain you are dealing with Fidonet ?

    Hi there,

Two entries in different nets by the same system should not occur in Fidonet.

    Yes? No?

If you're talking about 'othernets' then it isn't Fidonet.

Ahh, threads of got crossed somewhere, could be me.

I'm following on from Robs BBSID kludge that has had some commentry in this echo.

He mentioned, it was a way of identifying a specific BBS across othernets. I commented that I was trying to do that for another project, and his kludge is another data point that may be something that could assist me..

There was other chatter around it, dont recall what it was now.

    Hey deon!

Its another correlation put that two systems (in two different
    nets) are the same system.

I am still not seeing why this is needed or even of any real consequence if indeed 'two different nets' are not both fidonet nodes. Also what does anything to do with BBSing have to do with this if indeed most node addresses haven't been running BBSes since about the mid 90's or so.

    Life is good,

Is it "needed", no, I dont think it is. Is it "useful", I do. Does it break anything, not that I'm aware of.

Sorry, I dont understand the second part of your question.

    Hey deon!

Is it "needed", no, I dont think it is.

    Then why all the bother?

    Is it "useful", I do.

How so? It appears to me to be a BBSing thingy and not a FTN thingy, "useful" being relative to BBSing and not to anything FTN-ish that ever was or is as thingies stand today.

Does it break anything, not that I'm aware of.

It doesn't break anything here other than to further pollute the MSG format with utter nonsense.

Sorry, I dont understand the second part of your question.

I've noticed. No big deal as I doubt this whole thread is going anywhere.

    Howdy,

Is it "needed", no, I dont think it is.

    Then why all the bother?

I thought that was clear - Rob is using it to achieve a purpose, and I'm thinking I might be able to use it too...

Does it break anything, not that I'm aware of.

It doesn't break anything here other than to further pollute the MSG format with utter nonsense.

In this context, "utter nonsense" is relative - I understand your viewpoint though.

    Hey deon!

I thought that was clear - Rob is using it to achieve a purpose

Which again appears to have nothing to do with fidonet in this case - it is a BBS thingy and perhaps not even that.

    I understand your viewpoint though.

    I doubt it.
