• Excessive Noise

From Daryl Stout@1:2320/33 to Sean Dennis on Wed Mar 16 11:28:00 2022
    Sean,

I rarely rest well at night...especially when nature and nightmares
    keep coming by.

For me it's road noise and inconsiderate neighbors who can't seem to
keep their drug dealing to themselves.

I'm afraid that's the case everywhere. There are signs throughout the
city, that note "Excessive Noise Prohibited". Frankly, I don't know why
they put them up, as it's ignored.

From cars driving by with seemingly no muffler...to those with their
radios turned up so loud, that it seems like there's an earthquake in
progress (I guess the feel of that rhythmic beat is all they have, as
they've gone deaf from the loud music)...to those who shoot off the firecrackers, fireworks, etc. inside the city limits (even though it's illegal)...it's another case of so many feeling that "rules don't apply
    to them".

With the fireworks, you're afraid to call the police, as if word gets
back that "you ruined their fun", they will vandalize your property,
and either hurt or kill you. They have no consideration for those who
have PTSD, or overly sensitive pets. They are like so many in the world
today who live only for themselves, thinking the world revolves around
them alone, and to Hell with everyone else.

Next thing you know, they'll say sneezing, belching, and farting
is illegal outside your home. Well, if that's the case, The Good Lord
needs to just nuke everything right now. The dogs let out some really
nasty farts, and they don't care. :P

    Shaun,

I have trouble with temperature, specifically heat. In the winter, I
never turn on the heat in my bedroom. And in the summer, I have a
separate A/C unit just for that one room. If it's a tenth of a degree
    over 20C, I'm not sleeping. I much prefer 15 or less...That's roughly
    70 and 60 in 'freedom units' (o_-)

I've had heat prostration and heat exhaustion, and have come close to heatstroke...definitely not fun. I like it toasty in here on cold winter nights, but during the day, I'll run a portable fan, or the air conditioner.

I've been there, too. Busting yer @$$ at work on a 38C day can bring down
even the toughest. However, even on the coldest of nights, I don't turn on
the heatin the bedroom. I just...open the door. The rest of the place
*does* have heat, after all... :)

The cat ate through, or knocked down, the door(s)? Must be a pretty
    tough cat.

Sounds like you should upgrade to a dog. ;-)

That's her, all right! Arnold Schwartze-kitty! I'm not always certain which of us is pet and which is owner...(o_-)

She would try to 'dig' through the door, which has a pretty negative effect, since she has those razor-claws. Doesn't scratch anywhere else except her exercize post, unless I put a closed door between us...and she friggin
    screams, too! (@_@)

I can at least understand the behaviour, though, since she'd been abandoned when I found her...

Sounds like you should upgrade to a dog. ;-)

Upgrade? Why would I want a bigger, noisier, messier, and hungrier version of *this*? (o_O)

Yes, that's likely part of the explanation, for sure.

Because they don't ignore you just because they feel like it, they
actually listen to you most of the time, they are trainable, and
they like to go out walking with you.

Plus a few hundred other reasons. :-)

Again, you don't know my cat! Sometimes, I would prefer if she *did* ignore
me once in a while. "Bugger off, cat, I'm trying to type!"

Ey, Booboo, she's smarter than the average be---uh, cat...She's pretty well trained; comes running at the snap of a finger, takes baths without (too much) fighting, even knows a few party tricks.

Not to mention that I'm not forced to go out walking with her in the winter.
I just have to clean out a smelly box once a week. Story of my night life, that...(o_-)

Cats and dogs certainly are different, but one isn't necessarily better than the other. I've owned both in my life.
