I installed the game Meldon today and went in search of the a way to getIf you havent registered any Sunrise doors you can request a set of keys from Al.
it
registered. The guy who wrote it, Jim Webb, lived in Canada. The
latest
version I could find was 1.4. As I continued my search I found several other
files from Lounge Software had been released as free. But not Meldon.
On one
of the local BBS's I found version 1.5, the registration information was for a
guy in New Zealand, Glenn Sutton from BCSoftware. Finally, to add spice
to the
search, Sunrise Door Software has it as a WINServer game. The game does have
nice graphics, but it seems to be a LORD clone so far. Anyone know
where a complete release of Lounge Softare keys can be found?

I had a couple of users who used to play Meldon and I wanted to register it. When Al from Sunrise had one of his registration specials, I registered all of the DOS games he had. Al took over the Lounge doors when Jim stopped developing them, but apparently Al retired the DOS version of Meldon so I didn't get a key for that one.

I'll give Al a try. See if he's willing to release them.
Thanks!

money talks.
okay that's strange or you worded it kinda funny.
someone advised AL not to allow someone to develop a new key file generator?
It makes sense if the person who advised him not to was the original developer.
i'm trying to make out what he was saying.
why would the original developer give one shit?
We have seen other developers who abandon stuff turn around and not want it to be public, even though they don't want to develop it. With this one, I am wondering if Al had permission to developer a Winserver version but
maybe didn't have any understanding with the original developer re: continuing the DOS version.
I appreciate everything that Al has done for the BBS community. I will follow his wishes. His exact message to me was:
I am advised to refuse permission.
CC: Legal
I did ask if he'd sell the rights to the DOS version with no reply.

As do I. It sounds like maybe a lawyer advised him not to do so.
On 29 Jun 2023, Mike Powell said the following...

maybe he should be advised that a "coffee donation" of $20 in exchange for BBS door keys is actually a payment for a product that is taxable.
