• 25' tower

From Jimmy Anderson@1:103/705 to All on Sat May 3 15:48:57 2025
Hey - been AWQ (away from QWK) for a while now but getting back
after playing around with Terminal on MacOS...

Anyway - was planning a 55' tower, but decided to make it smaller.
Have the stuff to do 55', but my test mount at 20' was hitting
Memphis from my house 80 miles away. I'm sure 55' would hit
a tad further, but decided it wasn't worth the extra work to
put it up. I'm doing it myself with my son's help :-)

So I have 25' ready to go. Have the hole dug, but weather hasn't
cooperated with keeping it dry enough to pour concrete... Maybe
    one day next week...

Wanted to know if you were able to set up the tower? How did it go?

Hey Jason - YES! Got it up - finally. :-) Since the weather
didn't cooperate earlier, it was after our grandson was here
for the summer - so - I have his handprint, the other grandson's
print, mine and my wife's! :-)

Turns out the X30A Diamond antenna is about 33' in the air. I'm
able to check in to a net in Memphis every night as if it were
the 'local' repeater! I'm also hitting Jonesboro PRETTY good.

    I'm enjoying it. :-)
